An outing to Spain is being planned to witness a total solar eclipse on 12 August 2026. The pale blue line on the map shows the path of totality.
This is one of the closest total eclipses to Ireland in a while, and Cork Astronomy Club will be organising a trip lasting about three days to view it. There is, of course, much to be decided: where to observe it, where to stay, what other attractions to visit, transport, and doubtless many details besides.
A sub-committee has been tasked with planning the visit.
