On Friday, 20th June, our club gathered at The Anglers in Carrigrohane to celebrate the summer solstice with a midsummer barbecue. Just like last year, the venue proved to be the perfect choice, offering great food, a relaxed atmosphere, and a beautiful setting by the river.

It was fantastic to see so many members come together. The evening was filled with good food, lively conversations, and plenty of laughter. With the sun shining late into the night, we couldn’t have asked for a better way to mark the longest day of the year.

The summer solstice is a special moment in the astronomical calendar, the point when the Sun reaches its highest position in the sky, giving us the longest day and shortest night. Across history, people have celebrated this turning point of the seasons, and it was wonderful for us to mark the occasion together in such a social and memorable way.
