Club member Jan Cap organised a fascinating workshop on all things solar including how to safely observe the Sun.  This was held on 5 Nov 2023 at his own observatory and as it was weather dependent was scheduled at short notice.  Cover image shows Jan demonstrating how to use a scope specially adapted to safely observe the sun and below shows Jan’s specially adapted solar imaging rig.  Jan was at pains to emphasise that you should never ever look at the sun with either binoculars or a telescope if they have not been fitted with the correct filters, otherwise permanent damage will be caused to your eyes!!
