  • A solar eclipse will occur on 12th August this year (a Wednesday).  In parts of Spain it will be total, and a small handful of Club members intend to travel there to witness it.   • Friday 19th June will see the Club’s midsummer barbecue at The Anglers in Carrigrohane.   The price is €35 per person and the event is for members plus one.  Photo : smiles at last year’s barbecue.   • Cork Astronomy Club members’ photos are on show at Blackrock Castle throughout May 2026. Our Club includes a clutch of highly skilled astrophotographers and we thank Blackrock Castle Observatory for showcasing their work.  The castle provides a wonderful exhibiton space, and a glimpse of part of the exhibition can be seen in the photo on this page.  All the photos were… “read more”


  • Observers nights are held at Frankfield Golf Club, 8 p.m., on a Monday night towards the end of each month.  Members only.   The final meeting of the current season was held on 20th April. “read more”


  • The Club’s 2026 Spring Outing visited Dunsink Observatory, New Grange and the Boyne Valley, and was blessed with sunshine, hugely welcome after a month of rain.   23 members and friends took part.   • Saturday morning workshops

    A programme of Saturday morning workshops is held at Tory Top Library, each workshop lasting two hours, with a start time of 11.00 a.m.   Eircode T12 WP57, see map below.  These are for Club members only.  Tea, coffee and biscuits are served. One more workshop is planned this season — April 11th — Building a Telescope with a 3D printer.… “read more”


  • Two tours of the Crawford Observatory have been arranged for Club members — Saturday 21st and 28th February at 11:00 a.m.  Requests to join one of the tours to Jan Cap, who will be your guide.  The 21st is now fully subscribed.   • The November meeting of the observers group is designated the Christmas jumper and toy show and will feature Christmas jumpers, some shiny equipment, seasonal fare, and raffle prizes.   The date is Monday 24th November and as usual it’s at Frankfield Golf Club.
