The Universe is a vast space. The size of the observable universe from Earth is 46.5 billion light-years looking in any direction. The observable universe is thus, a sphere with a diameter of about 93 billion light-years estimated to contain several hundred billion galaxies, based on latest data from New Horizons .
Have you ever thought that with a camera or a telescope you can actually witness the majesty of the universe with your own eyes? Have you ever thought that you can create your own radio telescope and see the universe with a different perspective? You can observe our Sun and its Solar System, but you can also go further and look for stars, clusters, nebulae and galaxies.
These are some of the things that members of Cork Astronomy Club are fascinated with doing. We try to share all of this experience and knowledge with our local communities – and the world. So stay with us and join in this amazing journey.
